How Not To Summon A Demon Lord – Episode 5 (Review)

After surviving a run in with a Fallen and the powerful warrior Edelgard, our trio receives news that Shera is still being requested back to her kingdom. This time if she does not surrender, the kingdom is more than willing to wage war. Shera, Rem, and Diablo must find a way to settle this matter before war is waged and an Imperial Knight named Alicia joins their efforts.
This week, How Not To Summon A Demon Lord shows a different side of RPG gaming; communication choices. Although not as obvious as choosing an option from a list of a choice of dialogue, I picked up on how his choice of wording directs the way the story progresses and how other characters react to him. As I observed this I realize Episode 5 is not only where it occurs but since we got a break from the action Episode 4 had in full, it was much easier to notice.
The new character Alicia becoming a part of the cast definitely gives the show much more of a harem feel though. She’s clearly strong in reading others and communicating so hopefully she’s strong in battle too. However her outfit reminded me of Queen’s Blade immediately, (which made me want to revisit that series from a different perspective than my initial distaste), and her dialogue with Diablo makes me feel it won’t be long before she ends up attracted to Diablo.
Although not much significant happened, Episode 5 of How Not To Summon A Demon Lord was pretty good this week. We even spent a bit of time with Emile who has become one of my favorite characters as he steps in, (for no real reason this time), to be extra as every fuck. I hope next week keeps me invested.
